In a captivating twist of events, the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) has orchestrated a remarkable feat in just six days, rallying support on Indiegogo to fund a 30-second ad trailer showcasing NASA’s endeavors. This trailer, a snippet from the longer “We are the Explorers” video, will grace the screens of 59 theaters across major U.S. cities, preceding the highly anticipated Star Trek movie.
The AIA, representing a multitude of U.S. aerospace and defense entities, surpassed its initial $33,000 campaign target, igniting enthusiasm for the nation’s space program. Their mission transcends mere advertisement; it aims to illuminate the public on the boundless potential of American space exploration.
Amidst the backdrop of NASA facing budget cuts due to the U.S.’s sequester measures, this initiative emerges as a beacon of hope and resilience. Contrary to misconceptions post the Space Shuttle era, NASA continues to forge ahead, crafting cutting-edge spacecraft for unprecedented voyages into uncharted cosmic realms.
With 33 days remaining in the AIA’s crowdfunding endeavor, aspirations soar higher as they strive to expand their reach to 750 screens nationwide. The ambition to raise $94,000 underscores their unwavering commitment to propel the NASA trailer into a broader spotlight.
As Star Trek Into Darkness graced U.S. theaters on May 17, 2013, this fusion of cinematic spectacle and real-world space odyssey promises an enthralling prelude for audiences across the nation.
We are the explorers. Here’s a nice NASA commercial, something you don’t see very often.

my uncle vance carlin was quality control officer over the repair and certification of the planes that flew the astronauts around the world to their duty stations and the weightless training plane–he flew on each plane to assure it was properly repaired-
on those flights he met and recorded notes about the conversations with the astronauts-the scriptwriter for “the right stuff” borrowed vance’s notes to write the script-gave no credit to vance-vance said “that’s just the way things are”-he was my hero-jim carlin m d
Cool job, neat story. Well, he gets credit now because you told us. Anyone keyword searching The Right Stuff could now find this fact if my blog is indexed.
I like the shift information is making with the Internet to having everyone with the ability to broadcast facts. This is a fairly new development and it may save us.
