I’m sitting eating dinner, reading consumer reports ( about what keeps people awake at night) at my kitchen table when the spare key to my house “falls” from its nail on the wall onto the middle of the kitchen floor. I just sit and look at the key for a while, listening. No wind, no sound. I am alone. Then a small inchworm appears on my right arm.
Have you Experienced a Poltergeist?
I haven’t touched that key for a week. I suppose the key could have been slowly falling for the past week that I have been gone… That it did not fall when I opened and closed the front door last night and again tonight… But it got a little closer to falling… And it waited to fall until everything was completely still in my house, until I was sitting with my back to it…
I dropped the key repeatedly from where it was, and only one time in 10 did it fall in the same general location. I don’t at all see how it could have fallen off of the nail it was on.
I hope no one I know has died. The last time something like this happened, my grandfather on my dad’s side had just passed away.
The sign the key is hanging on is a quote from John Lennon, “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans”
Update: I wrote that “no one I know has died” but what is particularly spooky is that I later found out that the person who made this key had just recently died in a car accident. He hit a small school bus and he killed several special needs kids as well, or so I was told, second-hand. This was many years ago, but I still wonder about it.
Not everything we experience can fit neatly into a scientific box.
