  1. Thanks for adding the handout wording. They promised me fiber. I see the fiber line out my window, but now they say no, it’s not available to consumers. It is too expensive to run the line from the main fiber cable to homes. They want to wi-fry us. And wi-spy as well with that looking through walls BS. Why is everyone ignoring that?!?! AT&T can prove me wrong by giving me fiber. No 5G!!

  2. @FeeLicks: Research before you insult.

From that article, it can see in the dark like radar. “Wi-Fi based perception doesn’t require light, and is capable of detecting body poses even when there are objects in the way which would obscure a traditional camera view. Another major attraction of this discovery is that the Wi-Fi routers used were cheap at just $30 each, and thus much more accessible than expensive and power hungry solutions such as radar and LiDAR.”

It’s real tech, and if you think one of the most powerful telcos in the world is not using it, then you have a very optimistic mind and I congratulate you on keeping your faith in the system. Perhaps you are correct, that they don’t use it, but it does exist.

  3. FYI, for anyone looking up info on this story, here is a message that was in my inbox about AB 479 in California. I did not help on this effort, but I’m glad people will not be losing their land-lines in areas of need, and it is interesting (and surprising) that an organized group of people can still hold some power against mega companies in 2025.

    Congratulations!

Working with a fantastic coalition, and with you as our partners, we have stopped AB 470—the bill that would have resulted in residents losing their landlines! AT&T spent more than $2 million in lobbying, deployed huge teams of people in Sacramento, ran a widespread ground game in numerous counties, and pushed huge amounts of disinformation. In response, we dug deep, pulled together, and won! Thank you all for your work! Thank you for raising your voice, signing letters, and making phone calls. The more legislators heard about the bill, the more they realized how disastrous AB 470 would be. This is truly an incredible win against all odds.
